"Really spectacular last night! I knew it would be entertaining, but it went way over my expectations!! The most impressive part was how you tune in to everything that happens during the show that isn't planned and the speed of your wit to make jokes about that stuff is a real talent!" -Dan P. breakin' down the bk bio
I've always loved making people laugh
When I was 8 yrs old - give or take a year - I met a comedy magician at a resort in Wisconsin and said, "That's what I want to do!" His name is Hobson and to this day, he continues to be a great friend and mentor to me.
My father got me started as he was already performing magic tricks for kids in his dental office to reward them for good behavior
As a chronically ill Child from 10 1/2 - 17, I learned how valuable a tool laughter is to bring joy to people's lives! Making other people (patients, doctors, nurses, staff) laugh made everyone feel better, including me!
@ 16 I began entertaining at private parties
@ 18 I was performing table-side close-up magic in restaurants
@ 21 I booked my first corporate gig. I entertained a golf outing group on their bus ride from Grand Rapids to Traverse City, MI. Woot! Woot! I went on to entertain corporate and casino audiences for the next 6 years
@ 30 I took a break from performing and dove head first into the fitness industry becoming a Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
@ 35 after a 5 year break from performing, I made a comeback with my own one-man-show "Sleightly Funny" that ran for two years in Evanston and Chicago.
In 2013 I had an Ah Ha! moment when I realized I could private chef dinner shows with my fancy schmancy deep dish pizza. BOOM! Magic by the Slice was born!
BK may be the only comedy magician that also cooks for you and your guests! Loving all things Chicago (especially pizza), back in 1999 while performing full time as a comedy magician - entertaining casino and corporate audiences - BK began perfecting his deep dish pizza. He tried numerous recipes week after week, would eat one slice, sometimes only one bite and then pass the rest off to his neighbors. "They loved me!" He got close to what he thought was the perfect flavor and consistency but felt it was sleightly (see what we did there?) amiss. With months of trial, the help of some of his more than willing taste testing friends, the Chef at Pizzeria Due (sister restaurant to Pizzeria Uno), his late great pal Chef Stutz and a few others, he nailed it!
What's BK doing when not performing? Wow you're nosy! He's likely working out, strength coaching endurance athletes and or watching his favorite sports teams try not to suck! Oh and he leads brewery tours at Temperance Beer Co. every Saturday at 3pm! And if you must know, he lives on the north side of Chicago.
